CHINA: Rise in import price responsible for increase textile exports to Asia, Europe

BEIJING: The export of textiles and apparel to Asia and Europe combined 70 percent of the total exported US$ 14.482 billion in September 2006.
Of the total, EU accounted US$ 2.099 billion worth of exports following Asia with US$ 6.752 billion and the entire European region reached at US$3.478 billion.
However, the largest individual market remained Japan with US$ 2.19 billion; Hong Kong with US$ 1.661 billion; Asian Trade Block with US$ 604 million and South Korea with US$ 556 million.
Further, textile exports to the US stood at US$ 2.41 billion in September 2006.
However, in the first half of 2006, textile and apparel exports showed an impressive 24.15 percent growth after reaching US$ 107.775 billion worth of exports.
A sharp rise in the average import price is seen responsible for much of the increase, as per the recent import data into Europe.
